	Global Serv's SLACi Ushers in Tomorrrow's Automated Data Center SLACi, new software from GlobalServ, turns KVM switches into automated switching devices. When automated, the switches both help in server recovery and help businesses find hidden efficiencies in business process. MENLO PARK, CA (January 2, 2007) - GlobalServ Inc. introduces SLACi, software that harnesses KVM Push™ technology to use switches to automate certain data center tasks. Data center operations get a boost in server recovery and productivity with software that converts manual KVM switches (Keyboard, Video and Mouse) into Event Driven Automated Switching devices. SLACi provides more than a dozen enhancements over today's manual retrieval switching techniques. SLACi's design lets technicians use KVM switches to access multiple computers at the same time. Switching controls embedded in the hardware, such as On-Screen-Display (OSD) systems, allow users to retrieve control of computers one-at-a-time. In today's environment this isn't sufficient. Development and computer lab technicians tend to work with multiple devices at the same time. Data center administrators may need to test connectivity between multiple servers in several locations to take corrective action. Grouping controls within SLACi let users switch multiple ports at once with a single request and with less effort than using the OSD. KVM Push technology reduces server downtime to close an expensive gap in business continuity management. SLACi immediately pushes server control to technicians upon system failure, empowering network and data center technicians to perform their jobs more effectively. And, push automation can be extended to match specific types of failures to the appropriate technician or can reroute control based on the time of day or availability of personnel.
